Today we met our ID and her electrician and plumbing team to get lights and some accessories. Carpentry is done but we needed just a bit of adjustment here and there. Air conds are in too (very important).
I am MOST happy about our storeroom. I like how it turned out to be like a walk in cupboard (as opposed to a walk in wardrobe). I also really like how the doors blend in with the rest of the cabinets in the kitchen.
The storeroom – my brilliant idea!
I also really like how the kitchen turned out looking more spacious than expected. Pretty good choice not to put top hung cabinets on the side with the window so it looks more open.

The master bathroom has turned out looking more spacious than initially thought also. But I still feel that the shower area is very narrow.
Master bathroom cabinets and accessories installed
A few days ago we told the carpenter to look into replacing our door handles and locks. He gave us a quote for the bedroom and bathroom door handles and locks (including the archive trays), but were told to hang on for the main front door because it might be a bit expensive and we’d need to find one that perfectly matches. We were shocked to find that he’s already changed the handle and lock for the main door today, without first asking us about colour or price! It looks ok, needed to be adjusted because it was installed slightly crooked, but this pattern / look wouldn’t have been our first choice lah.
Old is gold, but a bit too old. It needed a change

Our very small wardrobe in our master bedroom. Looks like we’ll be filling up the wardrobe in the other room as well. Hehe

We have water in the yard!
Lights above our dining table installed. I might need to ask them to lower the lowest of the three.
Because we decided to get the walls replastered at the last minute, the 2nd round of paintwork will need to be done only after Labour Day. Anyway so far everything is still on schedule 🙂
We started sorting stuff and packing bit by bit a few days ago. Miu has been busy choosing which box she feels most comfortable being moved in.
We have form and function!:D
Our study area is just about done
Kitchen – I really like the brown colour on the laminate:
The sink, oven and cooker hood has been installed. The granite surface needs to go on before the hob can go in
Cabinets above the fridge, but the light needs to be moved as it is too near for the doors to swing open
Built-in dish rack above the sink
Fixed louvered panels for ventilation in the storeroom
Some images from the bedrooms:
Cupboards in the guest bedroom
Bookshelf in the master bedroom – this was a rather last minute addition as we were a bit desperate for storage space for books and documents
And here are some images from the bathrooms:

On Saturday, we’ll be installing some more lighting and other peripherals like additional shelves and racks. We’ve also decided to get the walls re-plastered because we did quite a lot of hacking and patch-back work to run wires all over the place. Afraid if we don’t we might see bumpy surfaces.
Since there are some lights up, we decided to go over after dinner to see how far they’ve gotten with the carpentry. They have put some carcasses in place, but I have to admit it’s not very attractive at the moment because we all know the wood they use for making the carcass is well, not attractive. Now we look forward to having all the laminate and granite surfaces in place.

Built-ins at the study area. Some power points within the cabinets are missing though.

For the longest time I was obsessing about whether or not our fridge would fit, but now I have a new recurring nightmare – that the washing machine won’t fit through to get to where it should be. Help me.
Now that most of wet works are done, we have half our lights installed and half our walls painted. Here is a short video that walks you through our home at the moment. I did the very annoying thing of taking taking the video vertically instead of horizontally – I will do better next time.
The house looks brighter and cleaner, and so far we’re happy with the lights that have been installed, except that one fluorescent tube seems to be missing at the end of the cove lighting ledge. Toilet thrones are in place. Fans are also in place. I thought the air conditioners would be installed, according to the schedule, but we told our ID to put them in as late as possible so maybe that’s why it’s not in yet. I think next week will be very exciting as carpentry work begins.
